SEE ALSO 52314, 52344 House No. 49 The Select Committee on Lunatic Hospital reported: An Act concerning the State Lunatic Hospital, 1832. There
would be a five man Board of Trustees to manage the affairs of the institution and appoint the superintendent and treasurer. Someone from the Board
had to visit once a month, the majority had to visit twice a year, and the entire Board had to visit together at least once per year. The Board would
make an annual report in December. The Board was to serve without compensation, except for expenses. When the facility was open, all jailed lunatics
would be delivered as soon as practical. Town pauper lunatics could be sent as long as the town paid their keep. The Courts had to approve the
discharge of anyone committed by a court. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
