SEE ALSO 52361 House No. 48 An Act concerning hawkers, pedlars, and petty chapmen, 1832. Itinerant sellers were not allowed--period. They could be jailed and all their goods confiscated. However, people were allowed to sell fish and fruit and articles made in the US, with exceptions for playing cards and lottery tickets. Every manufacturer of tinware had to stamp his product with his name and location and get a license to sell it.
