House. Amendment to bill on arrest in civil actions, 1832
SEE ALSO 52255 House No. 46 Amendment to the bill concerning arrest and imprisonment in civil actions. Proposed amendment: The Governor would
appoint four to ten men from each county to be Special Justices who would assist imprisoned debtors to take the oath, attend creditor meetings and
generally function as the Probate Judge did in the bankruptcy bill. These men had the same standing as a Justice of the Peace. This amendment repealed the
1831 act on debt imprisonment. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
