House. Comm. on Railways and Canals. Act to incorporate the Pittsfield and West Stockbridge Railroad, 1832
|
|
House No. 27 The Committee on Railways and Canals submitted: An Act to incorporate the Pittsfield and West Stockbridge Rail Road Company, 1832. Four men were incorporated as the named rail road to locate, construct, and complete the railroad from Pittsfield via Richmond to West Stockbridge, with a capital stock of 4800 shares at $50/share. There followed the usual boilerplate language for corporations. Toll was granted, but after four years, the Legislature might change it. No other railroad was allowed in the vicinity for thirty years and after twenty years, the state could buy the railroad. This act passed the Senate on February 10, 1832.
