thought it proper to amend Article 3, so the proposal was held over until the next session. If it were approved again, it would be placed before the
people. All religious societies had the right to choose their pastor and to support that person by a tax on its members only. Any person could
voluntarily join or leave a religious society. All religious societies were of equal standing under the law. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title
