Joint Comm. on Rhode Island Boundary Resolutions. Report, 1832
Senate No. 34 Report of the Committee on Rhode Island Boundary of both houses to whom was referred the message of the Governor communicating certain
resolutions of the State of Rhode Island relating to the southern boundary of Massachusetts. Boston : Dutton & Wentworth, printers to the State,
1832. On March 20, 1832, the Committee submitted its report. Pages 2-15 were a history of the boundary, which was settled in 1719, but recently Rhode
Island had denied the validity of that agreement. On page 16, the Committee presented a resolution. Resolved: the Governor was authorized to retain
counsel to act for the Commonwealth before the United States Supreme Court in any case between Rhode Island and Massachusetts over state boundaries.
