Senate No. 33 On March 9, 1832 a Joint Committee on Choice of U.S. Representatives, seven men, presented: An Act to divide the Commonwealth into
districts for the choice of Representatives in the Congress of the United States and prescribing the mode of election, 1832. The twelve districts were
listed, with one representative for each on pages 4-6. Voters were to assemble on the second Monday of November to vote. The local authorities
counted the votes and wrote up the result which was transmitted to the Sheriff who carried the results to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. The Governor
would notify the winner. However, if there was no majority, there would be a second vote. When a vacancy occurred, another election would be held.
Pages 11-15 have a list of the districts and towns with population numbers. Page 16 is a recapitulation of those numbers. (Digitized from a microfilm

Ordered, that the joint committee appointed to consider the expediency of altering the laws for the choice of representatives to Congress, be instructed to consider the expediency of districting the Commonwealth anew for that purpose.
