Senate No. 27 On January 10, 1832, the portion of the Governor's message about choosing electors was referred to three Senators. On February 27,
1832, the Committee on Choice of Electors was directed to report a bill. On February 29, 1832, An Act directing the mode of choosing electors of the
President and Vice President of the United States, 1832. Eligible voters were to assemble in their town meetings to choose fifteen electors from a
written slate. The ballot and the recorded vote were carried by the Sheriff to the Secretary of the Commonwealth within eight days. The Governor and the
Council opened all the packets and counted the votes. The chosen electors then came to the State House to vote for the President and Vice President.
That vote was certified and sent to Washington. The electors received travel and per diem. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally

Ordered, that so much of the Governor's message as relates to the choice of electors of the president and vice president of the United States, and the returns of votes for members of Congress, be referred to Messrs. Cross and Hawes with such as the House may join.
