House. Select Comm. on the Massachusetts' Claim. Report, 1831
House No. 29 A Select Committee of five men reported on June 15, 1831 in an indignant tone about the payment of the Massachusetts claim for
reimbursement for militia services during the War of 1812. After a long struggle, the Commonwealth received $430,748.26. The Committee felt the Commonwealth
should receive interest because the money was withheld for so long. The Committee wished the Congressional delegation to push for the extra payment.
