Special Joint Comm. on Petition of Seward Porter. Resolve, 1831
House No. 27 A Special Joint Committee of two Senators and three Representatives in 1831 presented a resolve on the petition of Seward Porter. The
Commonwealth would give permission for his company to build wharves at a specific location with the understanding that Porter would make twice weekly
runs between Boston and Portland. No moored boat was to obstruct the channel. At least one steamboat had to remain moored all winter to tow boats in
the channel and to assist any coastal wrecks. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
