the amendment proposed by Mr. Barton, of Oxford, incorporated therein, [[n.d., probably 1831] Each jurisdiction of 1200 inhabitants was entitled to
one representative, 2400 inhabitants entitled to 2 representatives, and so on. It was allowed for jurisdictions to combine to elect a representative.
If a jurisdiction voted not to combine with another to obtain the requisite population, then that jurisdiction could only elect a representative
every other year. The Legislature elected in 1832 under the old rules would develop the district boundaries based on the most recent federal census, and
the process would be repeated every ten years. The number required to elect one representative could be gradually increased to keep the number of
representatives at 350. Members would be paid for travel and attendance from the Treasury. 75+ members equaled a quorum. (Digitized from a microfilm
