SEE ALSO 52274 House No. 7 On May 30, 1831, a fifteen man committee was convened to see if any alterations were necessary to the bill on County
Commissioners. The Committee reported An Act in addition to ... an act to establish County Commissioners and to repeal the several acts respecting the
Court of Sessions and the act establishing a Commissioner of Highways, 1831. There was a procedure set up to elect the Commissioners. The men were to
receive $3/day, with no travel money. The new Commissioners would take over any pending business from the Court of Sessions and maintain all the
records of office. Petitions for roads were subject to the usual notice and public meeting, with the Commissioners making the final decision. There was a
procedure for paying for the roads. There was a procedure for forming a jury to address grievances about roads. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
