House. Comm. on Agriculture. Report to promote the growing of the mulberry tree, 1831
|
|
House No. 55 The Committee on Agriculture was asked to see if it was expedient to support silk culture. On February 24, 1831, the Committee submitted a report in which it enthused about the opportunities for a relatively easy cultivar for which there was a large market and the work could be done by women and children. On the same day, the Committee offered a Resolve: the Governor would cause a concise how-to manual to be written and distributed around the state, with $600 available for expenses. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
