House No. 47 A Select Committee of three men reported An Act in addition to an act to provide for the inspection of salt manufactured in this Commonwealth, 1831. Any owner of a salt works could take salt from his vats for his own use or the use of his fishing fleet, but if a vat owner sold salt before it was inspected, the fine was 50c/bushel. An owner had to prove the product had been inspected, but how this was accomplished was not mentioned. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
