House No. 31 A Select Committee of five men sent in a statement of facts relative to a petition to waive the statute of limitations on an estate.
Vans, of Paris, France, was owed a substantial sum, paperwork signed in 1800, by John Codman of Massachusetts. Codman returned home and died in 1803.
In 1809, Vans came to Massachusetts and was not happy that he was barred from recovery from the estate by the statute. He sued anyway, but the case
was not heard until 1829, and, of course, he lost. The Committee basically did not know what to do. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title
