House. Special Comm. on the Lunatic Hospital. Report, 1831
SEE ALSO 51956 House No. 19 A Special Committee of three men considered the portion of the Governor's address on the lunatic hospital and on
January 27, 1831, presented a report. The Commissioners charged with building the hospital had received many bids for an all-encompassing contract for
construction. After examining the bids, they concluded it was better to go with more contracts for smaller parts of the enterprise. This took time, so
all that could be done that year was to make the foundation and secure the water supply, but everything was in place to start in the spring. The
building would be brick. Material prices were a little lower and so were wages, so the building will cost a little less. The Committee was satisfied the
Commissioners were doing their job. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
