Senate. Comm. on the Judiciary. Act to prevent fraud in transfer of personal property, 1831
|
|
Senate No. 31 On February 16, 1831, the Committee on the Judiciary was asked to inquire if it would be useful to change the law that regulated mortgages on personal property. The Committee delivered An Act to prevent fraud in the transfer of personal property, 1831. No mortgages on personal property were valid against any person other than the parties thereto unless the property was delivered to and kept by the mortgagee and the transaction recorded with the town clerk. All claimants to the property could be parties to any suits about it. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
