SEE ALSO 52183 Senate No. 29 Mr. Fowler submitted an amendment to replace sections 4-6 of An Act for the relief of unfortunate debtors .... A
debtor arrested for debt could give bond for at least twice the debt and have 90 days to pay his debts. If he could not, he went back to gaol. The
texts of various court documents for the process were included. Justices of the Peace who were specially appointed could also hear a debtor make the Poor
Debtor's Oath. Mr. Burnell offered another amendment: a debtor had to have ten days notice before a court action began. If a judgment was brought
against him, he could apply to take the Poor Debtor's Oath. [The text of the oath was not included.] (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title
