SEE ALSO 52193 Senate No. 27 A Joint Committee was asked to see where the state could save money and to consider petitions from several towns and
executive departments and the militia. The report: The state spent more than $68,000 on paupers last year, but another committee was working on that.
Other committees were working on problems with the militia, criminal justice expenses, and court expenses, so this committee asked to be relieved

The joint committee appointed of both branches of the Legislature, appointed to inquire whether "any retrenchment can be made in any of the departments of the government," and to whom were committed the petitions of the inhabitants of the town of Whately, in the county of Franklin, and of the inhabitants of the town of Granby in the county of Hampshire, and the communications of the secretary, treasurer, and adjutant and acting quarter master general, have considered the same, and ask leave to report.
