Senate. Comm. on the Judicary. Act in addition to an act on descent and distribution of intestate estates, 1831
|
|
Senate No. 20 On January 15, 1831, the Committee on the Judiciary was asked if out-of-wedlock children should be legitimized if the parents eventually marry, leading to An Act in addition to ... an act regulating the descent and distribution of intestate estates, 1831. If the parents of an out-of-wedlock child subsequently marry, that child was deemed legitimate with the same legal standing as the children born in lawful wedlock, provided there was no legal impediment to such a marriage.
