SEE ALSO 51940 Senate No. 18 The Committee on Roads and Bridges reported a bill: An Act to authorize and empower the County Commissioners for the
Counties of Middlesex and Essex to lay out the Andover and Medford and Essex Turnpikes and establish them as county roads, 1831. Middlesex County could
buy the Andover and Medford Turnpike for no more than $8,000 or they could assess three towns for $4,000 to build a road between them. The Essex
County Commissioners could buy the Essex County Turnpike for no more than $5,000 or assess two towns $2,500 for a road between them. (Digitized from a

Title:   The Committee on Roads and Bridges, to whom was referred the several petitions of the inhabitants of Reading, Stoneham, and Andover, and the proprietors of the Andover and Medford Turnpike Corporation in relation to making said turnpike, and also the Essex Turnpike, free roads, have considered the same, and report a bill.
