H.R. No. 5 The Committee to study map procurement reported: The current official map was old and unsatisfactory. Time and improvements required a
new map--New York had a great new map and Massachusetts didn't. Many state and town lines had been settled and it was possible to have good engraving
done locally. Once completed, the map could be sold to recoup costs. June 12, 1827, Resolved: The Governor to appoint a surveyor and approve any
staff. The Governor would approve the scale and design of the map. The Secretary of State was to share any maps and surveys in his possession. The
Governor was authorized to spend an unstated amount. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
