No. 1 The Committee charged with studying a railroad route to the west reported in the form of a resolve: The Governor should appoint two commissioners and one engineer to survey and study the routes from Boston to the New York state line and perhaps beyond, reporting to the next session of the legislature. The joint committee to whom was referred the petition of James Whiton and others, citizens of Berkshire, Josiah Quincy and others, citizens of Boston, and sundry other petitions praying for a survey for a railway on one or more routes from Boston to the Hudson River, have had the same under consideration, and report by resolve, which is herewith respectfully submitted. For the committee, L.M. Parker.
