House. Act on attachment of real estate and to deputy sheriffs and goalers, 1827
H.R. No. 46 An Act relating to the attachment of real estate, and to deputy sheriffs and gaolers, 1827. Any officer who attached real estate had 48
hours to submit a detailed written report to the Court of record and the clerk of the Town where the property was. The act listed all the fees for
looking at and acquiring a copy of the attachment certificate. A deputy sheriff had to live in the county where he was an officer. The gaoler of any
jurisdiction had to allow someone to see the debtors' calendar for a fee of 6 cents and if he refused to do so, was heavily fined. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
