H.R. No.43 An Act providing for the taxing of agents of foreign insurance companies transacting business within the Commonwealth, 1827. Foreign
insurance corporations had to register with the state and pay 2% of the value of the corporation's capital stock as a business tax. If a company did
business before it was registered and was caught, the fine was $500 for each offense. If a company ignored the tax or paid late, the fine was $5,000.
