House. Act authorizing towns in Franklin County to build an alms house in, 1827
SEE ALSO 51790 H.R. No. 37 An Act to authorize towns in the County of Franklin to associate together to build an alms-house for the support of
their poor, 1827. The towns were authorized to buy a farm and build housing for their poor. The expense was to be apportioned and borne by the towns.
They could choose a master of the facility and agents to handle the contracts. If a town refused to pay its share, it could be sued for the money.
