House. Special Comm. on the Bunker Hill Monument. Resolution and report, 1827

H.R. No. 17 The Bunker Hill Monument Association had been promised $10,000 worth of assistance, apparently by having the inmates at the state prison
prepare the stone for the monument. The Association wanted to change the assistance to cash. A Resolve was included to give the Association an
annual payment for three years running. There followed an interview with the Warden of the prison who said his men could do the work, but then they would
lose about $13,000 worth of other work and alienate many regular customers. The Warden followed this with a letter saying the same thing. The
Association sent a report showing it would cost 35% more to dress the stone at the prison and transport it to the site than to dress the stone at the site
