The House Special Committee to examine a bill confirming a Vermont Act to improve navigation in the Connecticut River Valley reported on February 13,
1826. The Committee suggested thirteen amendments to the language, mostly to protect the property and water rights and water use privileges of
Massachusetts citizens from injury by the Connecticut River Company. The Committee also protected Massachusetts' rights to build canals in the future that
might require Connecticut River water. Some of the paragraphs are difficult because the text of the Act is not present. (Digitized from a microfilm

Commonwealth of Massachusetts, House of Representatives, February 13, 1826 : the special committee to whom was referred the bill to confirm an act of the General Assembly of the state of Vermont, entitled, an act to provide for improving the navigation in the valley of Connecticut River, have had the same under consideration and report the same with sundry amendments which are herewith submitted.
