House. Special Comm. to amend the Amherst College Bill. Report, 1825
|
|
SEE ALSO 51686, 51688, 51715 On February 9, 1825 the Special Committee to study the Amherst College situation reported a few amendments to the bill. The Legislature will select the Trustees, with seven clergy and 10 laymen. The College may confer the usual degrees, but not a medical degree. The text appears to say that any student who wants to come will be admitted. If the Legislature thinks it expedient to move Williams College to Amherst, they have the power to do that.
