General Court. Act providing support for the poor, 1824
In 1824, any person who maintains themselves in an area for three years is then a resident of that area. No male or female in good health between
the ages of 12 and 60 can be a pauper; they must work. The compensation for helping paupers is 75c/week for adults and 45c/week for children.
