Joint Comm. on Harvard & Williams College Appropriations. Report on Harvard College, 1824
The Joint Committee of the Senate and House of the Massachusetts General Court on appropriations to Harvard & Williams College issued its report in
1824, covering appropriations to Harvard College only. Ten years ago, Harvard had received a lump sum of $23,750 which it used to help with tuition
for 298 students. The Committee recognized that this method differed from Williams, but it was fine. In addition, Harvard received two annual payments
of $5,000 for many years that they applied to the construction of a medical school and to enhance the general fund. Pages 4-7 are Harvard College's
financial and textual response to the inquiry of the Committee. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State
Library).
