The Whole Booke of Psalmes, along with a discourse regarding the necessity of singing Scripture psalms in church. A note in the beginning of this Bay Psalm Book stated that it was the first book printed in the now United States, in Cambridge in 1640. It was a translation of the psalms in meter by Rev. John Elliot, the Rev. Richard Mather, and others. The original owner of this book, the Boston Public Library, indicated that it owned two of the ten known copies.
