1729, Act for the Seven Proprietors to surrender title to Carolina
|
|
Act for establishing an agreement with the Seven Lord Proprietors to surrender their title and interest in the Province of Carolina to King George II, and published in London in 1729. Of note, the Crown bought out the seven for £22,500 in 1729, approximately the amount they had spent on the colony. The eighth proprietor, John Carteret, Lord Granville, refused to sell and retained his title and quit-rents. The pagination for the act began on page 543. See LLMC #21248 for related material. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library).
