Special Joint Comm. on Completing the Map of the Commonwealth. Report, 1841

Senate No. 29 A Special Committee, instructed to see what was needed to finish the state map, issued a report. Two town surveys were so bad, they
had to done over. Everything was waiting on the surveys. The topography was finished. $1500 was needed as an appropriation to finish the surveys
and data entry. It would cost about $2400 to prepare the sheets for production and then $4000 to engrave the copper plates. This could be done by
contract. When the plates were in hand, the map could be printed and sold to recoup some of the considerable expense of creation. Resolves concerning
the survey and the map of the State, 1841. Appropriate $1500 to complete the survey by March 1, 1841. After that, the office would be closed. The
Governor and the Council would contract for the completion of the map sheets, ready for engraving, by January 1, 1842. They would also contract for the
