Description and Holding Information
Joint Special Comm. on Limited Partnerships. Act concerning limited partnerships, 1835
SEE ALSO 52319 House No. 20 A joint special committee of five men reported a bill: An Act concerning limited partnerships, 1835. Limited
partnerships may be of two or more men for mercantile or manufacturing firms, but not banking or insurance. General and special partners were defined.
The partnership had to create a document describing its members, its plan of work, and financial arrangements to be filed with the local Register of
Deeds. Once the document was filed, it had to be published in newspapers for six weeks. Partnerships could not use "Company" in the name of the
enterprise. There were sections laying out directions for financial management and dissolution of the partnership. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
