Thesis from the Judge Advocate General's School entitled "The Brezhnev Doctrine." Maj. Gerald C. Coleman, United States Army, submitted the thesis
in March 1971. The paper examined the doctrine's origin, the ideological basis for the doctrine in Marxist-Leninist theory, and an analysis of the
doctrine under the provisions of the United Nations Charter and other relevant norms of international law. Of note, this doctrine expounded by Leonid
Brezhnev in November 1968 affirmed the right of the Soviet Union to intervene in the affairs of Communist countries to strengthen Communism.
