by Darton and Co., 1857. ( A letter to the Duke of Cambridge from Thomas Banister, formerly an adjutant of the 15th regiment. He makes numerous
recommendations regarding the military. He suggests that a man should enlist for life (24 years) and if a soldier wants to leave the service while in
England he should have the right to be discharged after giving 6 months notice. He also recommends that no one should be an officer in the engineer corps
without serving as a soldier in the line.)
