Description and Holding Information
Governance, Colonial Boards, Bd. of Trade Jrnls., 1704-1782
Journal of the Commissioners for Trade and Plantations preserved in the Public Record Office; Issued by authority of the Lords Commissioners of His
Majesty’s Treasury under the direction of the Master of the Rolls: April, 1704 to May 1782, in 14 volumes, London, HMSO, 1920–1938. (LLMC's run is
apparently missing the volume covering 1754–1758. This title was popularly known as the Board of Trade Journals. It constitutes a summary record of the
daily business of the Board. Every letter received by the Commissioners was read at a meeting and its author and subject noted in the Journal. The
storage location of the letter and any enclosures was then noted in the margin; so that the Journal serves also as the locator for storage location of the
letter and enclosures in the Public Records Office archives.)
