Mining Laws of the British Empire and of Foreign Countries: 12 volumes in 17, London, HMSO, 1920–31. (Some volumes were issued under the auspices of
the Imperial Mineral Resources Bureau. Others were issued under the auspices of the Board of Governors of the Imperial Institute. While in some
volumes the author is not identified, most volumes were authored by Gilbert Stone, who carried the title “Legal Consultant to the Advisory Council on
Minerals.” The bearer of that title in Vol. 10 is Arnold D. McNair. As of 1931 the series was described as consisting of: Vol. I, Nigeria; Vol. II, West
Africa; Vol. III, South Africa {Pt. 1 Transvaal, Pt. 2 Swaziland, Pt. 3 Orange Free State, Pt. 4 Cape of Good Hope}; Vol. IV, Canada {Pt. 1 Br. Columbia,
Pt. 2 Ontario, Pt. 3, The Dominion}; Vol. V, Australia {Pt. 1 New South Wales, Pt. 2 Victoria}; Vol. VI, British India; Vol. VII, Federated Malay
States; Vol. VIII, East Africa; Vol. IX, Br. Guiana; Vol. X, New Zealand; Vol. XI, Newfoundland; Vol. XII, No. Rhodesia; & Vol. XIII, Great Britain. It
is not known whether Vol. III, Pt. 4, Cape of Good Hope, and Vol. XIII, Great Britain, both of which were described in 1931 as being “in process of
