Description and Holding Information
1946, Malayan U./Singapore, C6724 (HMSO)
Cmd 6724, presented to Parliament in January, 1946, 9p, London, HMSO, 1946. (This document encapsulated British post-war planning with regard to the
administration of the Malay Peninsula. Its main thrust was that the former Straits Settlements of Penang, Malacca and Singapore should be
disestablished, with Singapore becoming a separate colony, and Penang and Malacca being combined with the other Malay States into a Malayan Union. Within the
Malay States, by treaty modifications with the various Malay rulers, the British King’s jurisdiction was extended so that he could legislate for all the
states alike under the Foreign Jurisdiction Act.)
