Conference of states signatories of the protocol of signature of the statute of the Permanent Court of International Justice; Final act of the conference; (same title in French): n.a., 8/8p. on opposing pages, plus pp. 9-13, which latter contain the list of signatories, Publications de la Societé des Nations, V. Questions Juridiques, 1926, V. 24, (Geneva?), Imp. Kundig, 9/26. (Lacks TOC & index. The first 8 pages contain the text of the final act in French and Englsih on opposing pages. The principal purpose of this conference was the desire to mold a common response from the signatories to five reservations from the United States relating to the maintenance of its sovereignty, which the latter maintained would be a prerequisite to it’s acceptance of the Court’s jurisdiction. The Conference attempted to formulate guidelines by which the U.S. demands might be met, and, on 3 Sept. 26, appointed a committee to come up with draft language that might meet the U.S. concerns. The Committee’s report is provided as LLMC Title No. 09630. The final act of the Conference, incorporated most of the Committee’s recommendations. This was enough to satisfy the U.S. Administration, but, in the event, the U.S. Senate never did ratify U.S. adherence.)
