quarterly by the Society. It is denominated “February, 1917, No.28.” William R. Vance, 1870-1940, was a professor of law at Yale from 1910-12 & 1920-38. He
was one of the leading insurance law scholars of his time. At the time of this writing, he was serving an eight-year stint as Dean of the University of
Minnesota Law School. This text was originally delivered before the Minnesota State Bar Association on 10 August 1916. The print text of this title
