This text is one of a series of annexes to the publication Juridical Settlement of International Disputes, which was issued quarterly by the Society. It is denominated “August, 1915, No.22.” Henri La Fontaine, 1854-1943, was a professor of international law at the University of Brussels, a senator of Belgium, and President of the International Peace Bureau from 1907 to 1943. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1913 for his efforts to promote world peace. He was also an ardent champion of women’s right and suffrage; joining with his sister Léonie La Fontaine in 1890 to found the Belgian League for the Rights of Women.
