(The constitution of Vanuatu written in Bislama, an English-based creole language, and one of the official languages spoken by the population. Bislama is based on English with 95% of the words having English origins and the remainder being French and local words. There are notes in the left margin for each paragraph. 1980 appears on the title page, but there is no ratification date at the end of the text. However, sources indicate that the document was enacted in 1979 and came into force upon the country's independence on 30 July 1980.)
