|
|
An inquiry into the equity, practicability, and expediency of the proposal for colonizing New Zealand: by Edward Garrard Marsh, (1)+4-23p, London, L. & G. Seeley, 1838. (Lacks TOC & index. Marsh was a poet and Anglican clergyman who was a member of the Church Missionary Society. This pamphlet narrates his discomfort, and that of the Society, with regard to plans of the New Zealand Association to colonize New Zealand. Their objections were not to the feasibility of the colonization plan, but rather to the harm British colonization was likely to cause to the lives and cultures of the native peoples. For a similar argument, see also the title by Wesleyan Missionary Society’s John Beechem, LLMC Title No. 57056. The print text of this title was scanned from Lincoln’s Inn Library pamphlet volume MP 79.)
