1920, Laws of the Federated Malay States
The laws of the Federated Malay States, 1877-1920: comp. by A. B. Voules, Vol. 1-3, publ. by authority, London, pr. by Hazell, Watson & Viney, Ltd.,
1921. (The Federated Malay States was a loose, nominally independent, unit of peninsular principalities fostered by the authorities in the adjoining
British Colony of the Straits Settlements as a way keeping relative peace in the area. Prior to the Federation in December, 1909, the Councils of each
of the four states {Perak, Selangor, Pahang & Negri Sembilan} passed their own laws, many of which were identical in all four states. Volume One of
this work contains laws passed before Federation that were common to all four states {with minor differences being shown by footnotes} and also laws
applying only to one state. Volumes Two and Three contain laws passed by the Federal Council. Special thanks is extended to the Connecticut State
Library for acquiring, preserving and donating this rare title. It does not appear to have been held by any of the “twelve great law libraries” surveyed for
the apposite bibliography The Common Law Abroad.)
