dispassionate treatise on the practicalities of running a coffee plantation, including managing the “staff,” in which the typical slave is described as
an “animal rational in a middle degree.” The second series of Arabic pagination, table of contents follows p. 145, contains the constitutional, etc.,
appendix described in the title. The entire text is in English. The original of this text was filmed by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black
Culture of the New York Public Library in its Series II, South Atlantic and the Caribbean, Reel #42.)
