title: By authority. Frontpiece: Portrait of Prince Saunders. This celebrated collection of translations of rare documents bearing upon the early
governance of Haiti was edited, as clarified in the TOC, by Prince Sanders {d. 1840, aka Saunders}, Haitian envoy to the British Crown. A brief TOC is
provided on the second unnumbered leaf after the title page. Although it is not mentioned in the TOC, the text of the “Code Henry,” promulgated by King
