Exchange of correspondence between the Suez Committee and the President of the Republic of Egypt regarding the future operation of the Suez Canal; Cairo, September 3-9, 1956: (Egypt No. 2 {1956}: n.a., 15p, Cmd. 9856, London, HMSO, Sept. 1956. (The Suez Canal Conference was an international attempt to resolve the Suez Crises by measures short of war, and the Suez Committee, comprised of Australia, Ethiopia, Iran, Sweden and the U.S. was deputized to conduct peacemaking negotiations with Egypt. The mission failed and an Anglo-French-Israeli “Tripartite Invasion” began with the entry of Israeli troops into the Sinai Peninsula on 25 Oct. 1956.
