Articles of a Convention between the United States and the Cherokee Nation of Indians west of the Mississippi. This Treaty of Washington guaranteed members
of the Cherokee Nation west of the Mississippi seven million acres of land and an outlet west as far as the United States extends. Article 1 defines
the western boundary of Arkansas and Article 2 describes the land guarantied to the Cherokees. The United States agreed to pay for the cost of the
emigration. The Convention was concluded in Washington, D.C. on May 6, 1828.)
Title:   Articles of a Convention concluded at the City of Washington : this sixth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight, between James Barbour, Secretary of War, being especially authorized therefor by the President of the United States, and the undersigned, Chiefs and Head Men of the Cherokee Nation of Indians, West of the Mississippi, they being duly authroized and empowered by their Nation.
